I was born in North West England, in a recovering mill town called Wigan. It took me nine years to discover Christ, another five to really fall in love with him, and I am still on the journey of getting to know him today.

If I'm honest, I’ve always thought very little of myself, anxiety and excessive self-criticism is a huge part of my story, but through Christ I’ve found worth, peace, and confidence. I am committed and connected to a God who redefines me as more than I could imagine. In many ways I feel like James and John in Matthew 4:19, two fishermen called by a great Rabbi to be something more than anyone expected.

I remember my first real encounter with Jesus, I was only nine years old, and it was an encounter that changed me. This was undoubtedly a spiritual moment, but even at that young age I remember it being a truly rational decision, a decision to be reunited with the God who wants to be in relationship with me. I remember the time, the moment, the clear and logical thought progression; I was created to be in relationship with God, and I wanted that relationship, and thanks to Christ it was possible for me to re-enter relationship with him. My life didn’t completely change immediately, not tremendously; this isn't one of those perfect stories. It’s been a long process of getting to know God. We’ve had our highs and our lows, both tremendous in their own ways; yet somehow, through it all, every ounce of reason and passion has lead me to the God who knows me, loves me, and wants me to be more. Today, I can say categorically that I’m a believing, baptized, student follower of the greatest teacher, the most high God.

Though I was born and raised in England, by the age of twenty-one my desire to know more about God brought me to pursue a formal education in theology and ministry, starting at Trinity College Bristol, and eventually moving to the USA to study at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago. There I complete my Bachelors Degree in Biblical Studies, another in Pastoral Ministry, and then a Masters in Congregational Leadership. Through my education and after graduation I served in pastoral ministry, working for churches in Wisconsin, Illinois, and Washington states. In 2021 I was invited to serve Trinity Western University in British Columbia, Canada, as Campus Pastor for their innovative Richmond campus. Throughout this pastoral career, my wonderful wife has been at my side. I am proud to admit that she's better than me in every way, and I wouldn’t be able to do any of this without her. Together we seek to serve God and strive to fulfill his mission.

When I consider my goals, I want to continue to serve God well, I want to maintain integrity and run the race in endurance, I want to be a voice for justice, progress, and spiritual reformation. Academically, I hope to pursue a doctorate at some point, hopefully sooner rather than later, but living the purposed life of a follower of Christ isn’t simply academic, so everything will come in it’s own time. Being a disciple and helping to create disciples is a huge task. I find myself invested in a relationship with a very real God who is particularly invested in the lives of his followers. When I consider my life with God I cannot help but be overwhelmed by one astonishing fact: God is invested in me. It is because Christ gave his life as a willing sacrifice for the sins of the world, and rose from the dead as an evidence to that fact, that I am able (as are you) to have a relationship with the God who is thoroughly invested in his people. It is because of God’s investment, his love, his sacrifice, and his awesome glory that I am invested.

Experience

Campus Pastor - Trinity Western University (2021-Present)
Anyone who knows me well knows that I love working with college students. In 2021 I was honored to accept a call to join the team at Trinity Western University’s innovative Richmond campus, just south of Vancouver in British Columbia, Canada. In this role I oversee spiritual care of staff and faculty, while actively working on student discipleship and ministry. In this role I have been blessed with the opportunity to re-launch chapel, start a men’s group, form a community group for seeking students, and practice relational ministry in a context where students are seeking answers to the biggest questions in life.

Director of Student Ministry - Grace Community Covenant Church (2020-2021)
I joined Grace Community Covenant at the height of the pandemic in 2020, with excitement in returning to a city that both my wife and I loved. Grace is a wonderful place, and it is a blessing to have relaunched a struggling youth ministry and watch it grow. In this role I oversee two part time assistant directors, and created an intern program. In addition to relaunching student ministry, we became aware that this college town was lacking a key thing: ministry for college students. Without hesitation we launched a small group ministry for college students, which quickly grew.

Associate Pastor - Grace Pointe Church (2019 - 2020)
Pastoral ministry is my heart, I love Jesus and I love serving people in his name and for his glory! At Grace Pointe (Plainfield & Naperville, IL) I initially oversaw discipleship of all ages at one of our church plants; facilitating opportunities for spiritual and relational growth for all members of the congregation - additionally I lead the charge on ministry innovation, increasing and improving our online presence and community. As the Covid-19 crisis grew, I made a shift to our main campus to oversee the launch of an online media based ministry.

Speaker, Consultant, and Vocational Adventurer (2018 - 2019)
We all make mistakes, one of mine was trying to be bi-vocational, I love a lot of it, but I always felt like I was missing something. From 2018 to 2019 I had the privilege of working for the Washington State Health Care Authority as an Eligibility Specialist - my hope was to serve people in real need by helping them get the health care the sorely needed, while also volunteering my services at a local church - Hidden Creek Community Church - a community I will always miss. During this time my experience as a freelance consultant and visiting speaker expanded - speaking everywhere from rural churches in Washington, to mega-churches in BC, Canada. This time came to a close when God’s call grew louder and louder - this season is for full time ministry.

Family Pastor - Christian Life Center (2016 - 2018)
Since 2016 it was my honor to serve at Christian Life Center in Freeland, Washington, as their Family Life Pastor. In this role I was primarily responsible for the discipleship of high school and middle school students, although my responsibilities stretched into developing and overseeing media content, live streaming, website development, and new technology implementation, as well as offering ministry to parents and college students. In this early role, I saw noticeable growth and depth in my ministry, starting with a youth group of just five students, and growing it to over fifty in a few short months. God is good.

Resident of Adult Education - Elmbrook Church (2015 - 2016)
It was a privilege to be invited to serve on staff at Elmbrook Church, a community that I had served in during my BA. While there, I served primarily in adult education. My main responsibilities included overseeing the revision and development of discipleship curriculum, assisting in developing a new structure for the internship program, and directing the “Faith Foundations” and “Starting Point” classes. In addition to this, it was a privilege to frequently teach Elmbrook's 'Know What You Believe' Theology course.

Church Leadership Intern - Brooklife Church (2014 - 2015)
As “Church Leadership Intern,” my role was to assist the Executive Pastor with his ministry, while also leading Brooklife’s mens ministry, “Valor”, preaching in middle school ministry, leading a home group, teaching baptism classes, coaching home group leaders, leading staff meeting, and other responsibilities. This internship fulfilled learning requirements toward my Masters degree in Congregational Leadership.

Volunteer - Elmbrook Church (2011 – 2014)
Since my arrival in the United States, I sought to have an active ministerial life. My primary ministry practice from 2011-2014 was with Elmbrook Church, volunteering with 8th grade boys in the Mosaic Middle School Ministry. In addition to this, I launched a Bible study in Waukesha, WI for young adults that is still meeting to this day.

Youth & Schools Worker - Southwest Youth Ministries (2009– 2010)
Although brief, my experience at SWYM proved deeply beneficial. While working as a youth and schools worker, I, unfortunately, had to deal with and learn from the issue of my ministry supervisor sexually harassing young women, I was a bit out of my depth. Although the ministry sadly dissolved, the experience taught me that God’s truth prevails in his timing.

Youth Director - Christian Life Ministries International (2008– 2009)
As the director of the youth program for a small startup outreach ministry run by a local evangelist, my role was to develop and support the youth work through several branches of the CLMI organization. This involved arranging and hosting regular youth events as well as being part of a team running a thriving youth cafe in an urban setting.

Children’s Worker - Buddies Before and After School Club (2008 - 2009)
In this role, I would set up activities, prepare snacks and drinks, as well as assess the academic development of children under five as part of the “Early Years Foundation Stage” on behalf of OFSTED. While working at Buddies, I developed my people skills and the ability to relate to people of all ages, whilst also earning my NVQ in Child Care.

Sound Engineer (2005 - 2007)
As a sound engineer for many organizations and events, including my home church, large outdoor concerts, and major charity events, I learned to work on my own and take initiative in high-pressure situations. This experience working with large scale large events and troubleshooting has proved invaluable over the years.
